The Samoan Tourism Authority commissioned this suite of 10 tourist information signs for iconic locations on the island. They feature Samoan traditional stories showcasing Samoan heritage culture and language.
Tourist information signs
Samoan heritage themes are reflected using traditional Samoan patterns for the backgrounds, warnings and legends. Using a distinctive font style unifies the Samoan language theme and the stories.
We worked remotely to develop this suite of signs. Fabrication of the signs and backing plates was done in NSW Australia and sea freighted to Samoa. The posts were carved in Samoa with traditional patterns. An official opening day to launch the signs as part of a new tourism drive was led by the Samoan Prime Minister, Tuila’epa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi.
