Aboriginal logo designs have been commissioned by several Local Aboriginal Land Councils to accompany walking trails, marine environments and Indigenous Protected Areas.
Aboriginal logo design – Ngunya Jargoon IPA
A competition was run with local primary school children, and the winning artwork was provided to us in digital form. We used this artwork as the basis for the Aboriginal logo design for the Ngunya Jargoon IPA.
Stretching over 1,114 hectares in the Lower Richmond Valley on the northern coast of New South Wales, the Ngunya Jargoon Indigenous Protected Area is a refuge for an extraordinary number of plants and animals. One of these animals is the potoroo, and this species forms the basis of the design.
We worked with Jali Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) to develop the original artwork into a finished logo.
Nyambaga Walking Trail logo: Gumbaynggir Yuludarla
Gumbaynggir Yuludarla (Gumbaynggir Dreamings)
This Dreaming story logo was requested as part of the Nyambaga walking trail project in the Nambucca Valley. The trail runs between Shelly Beach and the river breakwall. It was built as an interpretive experience for walkers, with signage that highlights the cultural heritage of the area — both Indigenous and European — as well as local vegetation, birdlife and animals.
To create continuity, I connected the design to existing trail graphics and incorporated the fish motif already used in the walking trail logo. In addition, I based the colours on a supplied palette to ensure consistency across all materials.
