Signage frame colours

Choose colours that support the landscape

Signage frames and posts should complement their surroundings rather than compete with them. Their purpose is to support the interpretation, not become a feature in their own right.

In most landscapes, mid to dark grey finishes provide a neutral backdrop that allows the sign content to remain the focus while blending naturally into the environment. In some settings, black frames and posts can also work well, particularly where they complement the artwork, materials or surrounding landscape.

Radius corners create a softer, more refined appearance and are generally preferable to square corners. As a guide, use a radius of approximately 15 mm for smaller signs and up to 30 mm for larger signs.
